On October 24th, the 10th SCIT Counselor Competence Competition came to an end at the lecture hall of Yanjiang Campus (Zone C). After the preliminary and semi-final competitions, each secondary college recommended 2 counselors to participate in the final. The final had two parts: “case analysis” and “heart-to-heart talk”, aiming to build a platform for counselors to exchange ideas and show themselves. Meanwhile, it was also a great opportunity to improve the professional skills and overall competence of counselors, and to promote the quick formation of a professional and professionalized counselor team.
In “case analysis”part, two participants, person A and person B, competed with each other in the way of “ask and answer”. With solid professional knowledge and rich working experience, these counselors conducted a comprehensive analysis of the cases closely related to their job duties, from different perspectives, which fully demonstrated the rich theoretical knowledge and excellent practical skills they have.
In “heart-to-heart talk” part, the participants invited their students to recreate the scene based on the requirements of the competition. These counselors were capable of focusing on the topic of the conversation and "putting themselves in the shoes of students". They sincerely helped students resolve their confusion and soothe their negative emotions, which fully showcased the fact that "taking up the role as a confidant of students in daily life is important for each counselor". The students invited to the competition were enthusiastic and offered full cooperation during the conversation, accompanied by continuous applause on the scene.
After the competition, Yang Peng, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of SCIT, expressed his recognition of this competition, congratulated winners on their good results, and put forward five working requirements for all the counselors of the institute: ensure the campus safety; fulfill the basic duties; provide theoretical guidance; love students and yourself; work with reflection.
The leaders attending the competition were invited to present awards to winners, including the first prize winner, Yan Lei, the second prize winners, Li Xiaodong and Guo Yaru, the third prize winners, Du Tingting, Yin Jiarui, Hu Tingting, and the honorable mention winners, Zhou Lianjun, Li Siyu, Chen Qingwei, Zhou Haoyue, Chen Qi, and Jiang Mengying.
