On November 19th, in order to celebrate the 6th International Cultural Exchange Festival of SCIT, a campus fete was officially launched at the lecture hall of Yanjiang Campus (Zone C). The event was jointly organized by the International College and the Common Required Courses Teaching and Research Center, with the assistance of the Foreign Language Association, the Student Exchange Service Center of the International College, and the Hanfu Club.
With the theme of “Taking a Worldly View and Maintaining a Global Vision”, this cultural exchange fete set up a total of eight exhibition areas: Japan Section, South Korea Section, Germany Section, the United Kingdom Section, the United States Section, Spain Section, Belarus Section and China Section. More than 300 student volunteers took an active part in the prearrangement and on-site assistance of this three-day event, which attracted thousands of students to participate in various activities every day.
In front of different exhibition areas featuring exotic customs, the narrations from student volunteers attracted many passers-by to stop and appreciate what they saw and heard. Among them, the “Jingwei” exhibition area, which represented China, used Hanfu as its medium to present the essence of “the Nation of Etiquette” and “Splendid China”. And the exhibition areas of other countries, ranging from Belarus, Spain, Japan, South Korea to Germany, also showed their cultural charm.
At the evening party of the fete, there were interactive games and song and dance shows, which were culturally specific, in each exhibition area, such as K-pop performance, German shooting game, and the English song “Last Christmas”. The game “Colorful Emotions” brought by Tadgh Atkinson from the United Kingdom, pushed the atmosphere of the fete to a climax, winning thunderous applause from the participants and attracting the onlookers to linger. In addition, 37 guests from the English and Japanese classes of the School of Media and Communications of Deyang University for the Aged sang the song “Five Hundred Miles” to encourage the young students on the scene to “read 10,000 books and travel 10,000 miles”, and to explore the world with a pure heart.
Against the background of economic globalization and educational internationalization, SCIT has held six international cultural exchange festivals in succession. These events aim to enrich students’ extracurricular cultural life, enhance their international vision and cross-cultural communication ability, create an international atmosphere of the institute, promote the construction of campus culture, and provide students with a platform to understand international culture, establish international awareness and broaden their international horizons.
