Recently, SCIT held a week-long orientation training for new faculty and staff. The institute attached great significance to it. Three vice presidents, Huang Sixin, Zhang Renzhi and Xiao Xingzheng, gave trainees lectures respectively, and encouraged them to stay true to their original aspiration of fostering virtue through education, educating students for the Party and the nation. The Personnel Office (the Faculty Affairs Office of the CPC Sichuan Institute of Industrial Technology Committee), the Academic Affairs Office, the Science and Technology Administration Office, and the Student Affairs Office exchanged ideas with these trainees based on the following themes: professional ethics of teachers, teaching and research standards, student management, etc. At the completion ceremony on August 16th, all the participants solemnly swore that they would carry forward the spirit of educators, fulfill the responsibility of imparting knowledge and educating students, and guide students to the way of healthy growth. At last, all of them signed the letter of teacher ethics commitment.
Huang Sixin gave an in-depth interpretation of the institute’s spirit and cultural inheritance education with the theme of “Understanding SCIT Culture, Taking the Responsibility of Educating Students, Exploring the Essentials of Connotation Construction, and Staying Committed to the Innovation-driven Development”. He reviewed the achievements of the institute in the past 30 years, and also guided the trainees to catch a glimpse of its future development path featuring reform and innovation. Zhang Renzhi focused on the practical approaches to the ideological and political education and the application of curriculum syllabuses. He emphasized the core position of curriculum construction in education reform. Xiao Xingzheng guided the trainees to understand how to become competent teachers by means of diving into the education science and teaching competence.
The highlights of this training included comprehensive and pertinent content and innovative training models. By means of the “on-line and off-line” platforms and the collaboration between the institute level and the departments, this training, featuring the combination of theory and practice, helped new faculty and staff gain a comprehensive understanding of SCIT, and laid a solid foundation for their future teaching career at the same time. After receiving the training, the participants said that it not only gave them many insights into the institute but also enabled them to greatly improve their education concepts and teaching skills. The orientation training was conducive to their quick integration into the institute’s development, which played a vital role in enhancing their confidence in becoming experienced and excellent teachers, who could always bear in mind the teacher ethics commitment and make new contributions to rejuvenating the nation and constructing a great country featuring Chinese modernization.
