It used the QQ groups for new students, the WeChat official accounts and the E-Class platform to open online classes on a variety of topics, such as the ideal on the convictions, the patriotic education, the rules and regulations of SCIT, the features of different majors, the legal and safety education, etc. These efforts brought the new students and SCIT closer, and helped them learn more about the institute in the first place and get tips about how to handle issues at college, which enabled them to embrace the identity change and integrate into university life better.
A heartwarming orientation atmosphere was created carefully. The institute has hung a number of banners, which showed its expectations on the new students, on the main roads of the campus and it also made various colorful 3D poster boards. All these things kept conveying an extremely warm welcome to the new students, sowing the “seeds” of warmth and hope in their hearts to help them embrace the unknown university life. New students and their parents took photos to keep precious memories on campus. Considerate services were provided to make students arrive at SCIT safe and sound. In order to guarantee the smooth registration of new students, the institute has set up pick-up spots at Luojiang High-speed Railway Station and Luojiang Bus Station, and all the supplies were in place. There were personnel assigned to directly send the new students and their parents to the campus with contracted vehicles. On campus, shuttle buses were ready to offer services free of charge. They continuously commuted between reception blocks and student dormitories during the orientation period. In addition, the institute provided basic health care services for the new students. The personnel, assigned to be on duty at the orientation sites, were in charge of supplying first-aid medicines and heatstroke prevention drugs. SCIT also made necessary duty arrangements concerning emergency treatment during the orientation period to guarantee the health of both teachers and students.
